Microsoft have been working with HCL (http://www.hcl.com/) to make a sequence of Excel systems that handle trading and compliance reports for financial companies.
A lot of the information that flows through financial companies is put into spreadsheets and can cause compliance issues.
James Burns, Microsoft’s technology officer has said that the systems that they have made are being tested on multiple spreadsheets and if they work they will be past on to programmers.
